Denise Haynes-Rock
Denise Haynes-Rock serves as the Alternate State Executive Committeewoman for the Dorchester County Democratic Party.
Denise was born and raised in Summerville, SC, however, she spent most of adult life with her husband in New England (Connecticut) for 40 years. She has two children. Since retiring 5 years ago, they’ve been back to Summerville.
She attended Southern CT State University, majoring in Political Science/Urban Planning. She is a graduate of “Leadership Greater New Haven,” a one-year leadership program designed to train community leaders. Most of her time in Connecticut was spent as a Community Volunteer. She was appointed by the mayor and served as a Senior Citizen Human Service Commissioner and on the mayor’s Community Advisory Committee for the town of Woodbridge, CT. She also worked with the Urban League of Bridgeport, CT and designed a community attitudinal survey for the Planning Department for the town of Stratford, CT.
Her fundraising efforts have included working with Discovery Museum-Bridgeport; Near and Far Aid, Fairfield, CT; Jack and Jill Inc.; The Links Inc. and the Sickle Cell Foundation.
She is the founder/president of Social Graces -Etiquette and Protocol Training and Consulting, which facilitated necessary workshops for clients such as Yale University, Jack and Jill of America, Joyner for Change and community groups. She also founded Embroidery Etc., a custom embroidery business.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she spent her earlier years in the corporate world of medical sales and marketing, in the NYC area: Bristol-Myers Squibb/Oral B/Brentwood, Inc. and Vitas. She also worked as Retail Buyer for Mercantile Stores’ NYC office. Currently she is on the boards of Sculpture of the South-Summerville and the Lowcountry African American Giving Circle and President of Lowcountry Women of Influence, Berkeley/Dorchester
