Flip Squads

the Big Idea

A Flip Squad is a small group of Democrats — your friends, your neighbors, your book club, your church choir, your softball team — who decide to spend the 2026 election cycle working together to help get out the vote. You name your squad. You decide which communication channels you want to use (text banking, door-to-door, postcards, phone calls, events, and signage). It’s up to you and your squad to decide when you want to work, how you want to work, and which campaigns you want to work on.

DCDP’s GOTV Core Team will be there to support you — with scripts, walk lists, training, and whatever else you need. But the squad is yours. You run it the way you want.

When the election cycle is over and we’ve flipped several seats, your squad gets celebrated by name at the Election Night Watch Party. And the contact points you logged along the way show up on the weekly leaderboard the whole party will be watching.

How It Works

  1. Form your squad. Recruit 2–10 people. Friends, family, neighbors, anyone who wants to do something useful this cycle. Pick a name — serious, silly, whatever fits your group’s vibe.
  2. Register with DCDP. Tell us who’s in the squad, what channel(s) you want to work in, and who’s the point of contact. This takes about five minutes. [Form coming soon — for now, email gotv@dorchesterdemocrats.com.]
  3. Get the tools and training. The Core Team coordinator for your chosen channel will get you set up — scripts, voter lists, platform access, whatever the channel needs. You’ll have what you need before you start.
  4. Do the work, your way. Meet weekly, monthly, or whenever your squad wants. Spend two hours or twenty in a week. Focus on one race or rotate through them all. The squad makes its own decisions.
  5. Report your contact points. Every week, log how many voters you reached. Your numbers show up on the leaderboard alongside every other squad in the county.

Why this Works

Flip Squads tap into something campaigns usually leave on the table: the personal motivation and networks of the volunteers themselves. When you recruit your own people, set your own pace, and own your own results, you’ll work harder and have more fun than any top-down volunteer structure could ever produce.

What You’ll Get

  • Autonomy and control. You and your squad will call the shots. What you work on, when you work, how much you work … it’s all up to you.
  • Support from the GOTV Core Team. You’re not on your own! The DCDP GOTV Core Team will provide opportunities, training, and support for a wide range of GOTV activities including phone banking, text banking, door knocking, post card writing, etc. We got you!
  • Recognition and appreciation. A weekly leaderboard will track your impact through the election cycle. At the Election Night Watch Party, your squad will be recognized by name for all that you’ve contributed.
  • A story to tell. When this election cycle is over and we’ve flipped several seats blue in Dorchester County, you will have a wonderfuls story to tell about how you and your Democratic friends worked together to make a difference.

Register Your Flip Squad

After you register your Flip Squad, a member of the GOTV Core Team will be in touch within a week to get you scheduled for a brief Zoom-based orientation.
