Play a key leadership role on the GOTV Core Team by planning and managing DCDP’s door-to-door voter outreach initiative.
Commitment: 5–10 hours/week
Term: Jun 22 – Nov 16, 2026
Team: GOTV, led by Rita Adkins & Gray Somerville
Meetings: Bi-weekly 1-hour Zoom meetings with the GOTV Core Team
Where: This job will be done both virtually as well as in-person
About the Core Team
The GOTV Core Team is a small group of committed leaders who are working to flip at least three seats during the 2026 election cycle by planning and managing DCDP’s get-out-the-vote effort. Next to the candidates, nobody will have a bigger impact on our election results than this team.
Most Core Team members are responsible for managing and supporting one of the communication channels that make up DCDP’s overall GOTV strategy—phone banking, text banking, door-to-door, postcards, events, and signage. The Core Team members don’t do the outreach themselves. Instead, they organize and support the outreach that is done by Flip Squads.
About This Role
As Door-to-Door Coordinator, you’ll oversee DCDP’s door-to-door voter outreach program, including both door-knocking and literature drop campaigns. Your job isn’t to knock every door yourself — it’s to build and run the operation that lets Flip Squads cover Dorchester County neighborhood by neighborhood. That means:
Identifying priority neighborhood in coordination with the Core Team
Cutting walk lists and getting them into Flip Squad hands (we’ll use MiniVAN or a similar tool)
Writing the door script for each phase of the cycle — persuasion in summer, ID and turnout in fall, GOTV in the final stretch
Onboarding and training Flip Squads who choose door-to-door as their channel
Gathering campaign literature from each candidate and assembling the packets squads will hand out at the door
Coordinating canvassing schedules with the candidates so squads aren’t doubling up on the same doors or stepping on a candidate’s own canvass
Tracking doors knocked and conversations had, and reporting back to the Core Team on a bi-weekly basis
Troubleshooting the inevitable issues that will arise with our door-to-door efforts throughout the election cycle
Ideal Candidate for This Role
You’re organized enough to manage turf, lists, and a team of squads at the same time
You’re comfortable learning canvassing tools (MiniVAN, VoteBuilder, etc. — or willing to)
You don’t need to love knocking doors yourself, but you need to believe in the tactic
You’re steady under the small chaos that comes with field operations
You have excellent customer service skills—you’re responsive, empathetic, reliable, and know your stuff
You don’t need prior canvassing experience — we’ll get you up to speed
What You’ll Get
A clearly defined mission.
Direct support from the GOTV Program Manager
The opportunity to use your leadership skills to make a real difference
A bi-weekly meeting to share your progress and troubleshoot issues
Support and collaboration from your fellow GOTV Core Team members
Recognition at the Election Night Watch Party for playing a key role during a critical election cycle
The satisfaction of knowing you took a stand and made a difference when American democracy was on the line
